Monthly Literacy Courses
Language Enrichment K: Phonics, Word Play & Early Guided Reading
(Kindergarten/45 min class) Learn oral language, print awareness, letter recognition, letter stroke, phonological awareness, alphabetic principle, high-frequency word recognition and early guided reading.
Language Enrichment I: Phonics, Spelling & Guided Reading
(1st grader/45 min class) Learn phonetic rules, letter stroke, decode words, spelling program which encompass the structure of the English language which includes sound/symbol relationships. Guided reading, vocabulary enrichment and early fluency building with comprehension.
Intervention Reading/Fluency Program
(2nd grade/60 min class) Learn advanced phonetic rules, letter stroke, decode words, spelling program which encompass the structure of the English language including sound/symbol relationships, prefix/suffix and syllable rules. Guided reading, vocabulary enrichment and fluency building with comprehension.
Reading Comprehension
(2nd – 5th grade/60 min class) Using passages, learn to summarize and synthesize as you read. Using critical thinking methods, review story development, character analysis, sequence, problem or irony in story, identifying key events, vocabulary enhancement, author’s purpose, tone, intent and story closure. Q & A test prep is included.
Spelling Intervention & Vocabulary Enhancement
(3rd- 5th grade/60 min class) Learn spelling while demonstrating a love of words! Created for fluent readers, but weak spellers that need to learn why a word is spelled the way it is. Sequential spelling lessons using explicit spelling instruction paired with phonology, sound production and sentence dictation. Grammar & Editing lessons with improving vocabulary, word usage and alphabetizing lessons.
Writing Lab: Handwriting, Guided Writing & Grammar
(K– 2nd grade/60 min class) Our early handwriting program includes improving handwriting strokes and legibility with stroke formation using Manuscript. Guided Writing topics based from storybook literature reflections. Sentence development is encouraged while building emergent paragraphs & introduction to grammar.
Math Tutoring (K-5)
Our tutors address your child’s individual math skill level needs to help relieve homework related anxiety and improve their classroom performance. Our tutoring includes all of the following areas:
- Numbers and Number Sense
- Computation and Estimation
- Word Problems
- Math Fluency
We will administer a pre-test to identify your learner’s skill level and review prior foundational skills. If your child has weaknesses, we will work to fill in hose learning gaps to make sure that they have a strong mathematical base going forward.

Face-to-Face/Online Tutoring
Tailored Tutoring can design a personalized program for your child that is built around his/her specific needs in the subject areas of math, reading, and writing. Our mission is to provide personalized instruction that helps students increase understanding of subject matter and boost self-esteem. We offer face-to-face sessions or online tutorial sessions. Each session is 1 hour.
Summer “Catch-Up” Sessions
During the summer, Tailored Tutoring offers tutorial sessions to students who need to “Catch-Up” in content area skills that were challenging during the school year. These sessions are hyper-focused on reviewing and mastering the skills in the specified content area. Hyper-focusing on specific skills and building will ensure your learner will be ready to take on more complicated skills in the area during the new school year. Each session is 1 hour.
